It will be important for transparency and to aid understanding to collect and report data such as: • how many people are requesting assisted dying and why (broken down by numbers accessing the first and second stages of the process); • how many people are deemed eligible for assisted dying; • how many people are being refused assisted dying and on what basis; • how many people decided not to proceed, and for what reasons; • how many assisted deaths take place; • what substance or substances have been used to provide an assisted death; • where the death took place; and • anonymised personal data such as age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, area of residence, and type of disease/illness/condition. 58.
