Official Report Meeting date: 31 January 2002

Plenary, 31 Jan 2002

The introduction of electoral pilot schemes offers councils a welcome opportunity to test new electoral procedures. We will publish a white paper on the future of local government—our plan is to do so before the Easter recess—which will be followed by an extensive consultation process.
Official Report Meeting date: 12 September 2001

Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee, 12 Sep 2001

There are several possible dates for the convention and we have provisionally booked the Edinburgh International Conference Centre for all of them. Are any of the dates during recess? One of them is, but I suggest that the latest date, 22 February 2002, is most suitable because, realistically, we need to leave ourselves enough time.
Official Report Meeting date: 8 December 2000

Rural Affairs Committee, 08 Dec 2000

I feel that we should have what I might call a sweeping-up meeting, perhaps after the Christmas recess. That could be done without unnecessarily prolonging the drafting of our stage 1 report. If things had gone to the original plan, we would have heard from the minister today.
Official Report Meeting date: 10 November 1999

Local Government Committee, 10 Nov 1999

Official Report Meeting date: 4 October 2006

Environment and Rural Development Committee, 04 Oct 2006

Our next evidence session will be on 24 October, which is in three weeks' time, after the October recess. Please note that that is a Tuesday.
Official Report Meeting date: 19 April 2006

Plenary, 19 Apr 2006

In one way or another, much of the work of the Parliament is influenced by—and, we would hope, in turn influences—decisions that are made in the European Union.I agree with Rob Gibson that there is an anomaly with regard to less favoured areas, but I hope that he would join me in welcoming Ross Finnie's consultation document, which was published during the recess. Unfortunately, Rob Gibson did not refer to the document, but I understand that it says that as far as less favoured areas are concerned, more weight should be given to the remote and islands areas.
Official Report Meeting date: 1 June 2005

Plenary, 01 Jun 2005

I hope that the minister will come back to Parliament before the recess, as he promised to do, to let us know what is happening to implement a scheme that the SNP, of course, warmly welcomes.
Official Report Meeting date: 29 June 2004

Health Committee, 29 Jun 2004

I thank the clerks for their work this year, and members who have managed today's endurance test and I wish them and everyone else a happy recess. I hope that you come back bright, brisk and ready for another year.
Official Report Meeting date: 27 April 2004

European and External Relations Committee, 27 Apr 2004

Promoting Scotland Worldwide Inquiry I extend a warm welcome to the committee as we return after our recent recess and I welcome members to the ninth meeting of the European and External Relations Committee this year.
Official Report Meeting date: 21 April 2004

Plenary, 21 Apr 2004

I echo the points of those who had the opportunity—which I did not have, incidentally—to strengthen European links during the recess. That is important at all levels of society in Scotland, from school-age upwards.
