Committee Meetings

Where an EU legislative proposal is referred to a lead committee in terms of Rule 10A.2 while the Parliament is in recess for more than 4 days, the Presiding Officer may notify the UK Parliament of any concerns indicated by the Convener on behalf of the lead committee that the proposal does not comply with the principle of subsidiarity.
I also intend to carry out a short consultative exercise over the summer, and to return after recess with a proposal for a Bill for Parliament’s consideration to change how long-term prisoners are released and managed.
That 28-day period does not take account of periods of dissolution or recess of more than four days. It is worth observing that the order was made on 26 January and that the Parliament will be in recess from 11 February up to and including 19 February.
