Question

To ask the Scottish Government what support it gave to charities and councils to help homeless people over the festive period.

Answer

The Scottish Government has committed an extra £354,000 of funding to support a wide range of initiatives to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness during this winter in various parts of Scotland. This includes flexible emergency funding, which empowers frontline workers to act immediately and directly in the interests of the person they are working with to prevent rough sleeping.

Among other things, it also includes an outreach contingency fund which will support third sector partners in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayrshire to provide additional outreach, allowing extra checks to be made and additional support given at times of extreme weather.
