Question

To ask the Scottish Government how it supports disabled and family-friendly access to railway stations in the Maryhill and Springburn constituency.

Answer

Rail accessibility is of course a reserved matter. However, The Scottish Government is committed to improving stations across Scotland to make them fully accessible and family friendly. Currently, we are funding upgrades at seven stations to make them fully accessible. We continue to fund improvements to make all of our stations more secure and family-friendly by providing new CCTV, help points, lighting, waiting facilities and increased police patrols.

The Department for Transport has just announced that Anniesland station has been successful in securing Access for All funding. Transport Scotland will now undertake work to establish the options to upgrade this station during Control Period 6.
