Less Survivable Cancers Awareness Day

  • Submitted by: Paul Sweeney, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 11 January 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-11815

That the Parliament recognises Less Survivable Cancers (LSC) Awareness Day, taking place on 11 January 2024; acknowledges that LSC Awareness Day raises awareness of the six less survivable cancers, which are brain, stomach, oesophagus, lung, liver and pancreatic cancers; understands that 9,000 people are diagnosed with these cancers in Scotland every year, and that, tragically, only 16% of people diagnosed will survive for five years, and calls for more action to improve the survival rates of people diagnosed with less survivable cancers.
