  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 21 December 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-07339

That the Parliament congratulates Newmains Primary School on being the first school in North Lanarkshire to be awarded the coveted respectme award; understands that the award, which is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by the Scottish Association for Mental Health, was launched in 2017 to provide advice and guidance on anti-bullying, anti-racism, diversity and mental health; further understands that depute head teacher, Marnie Hamilton, underwent respectme training as the school worked towards the award; notes that the school now has a number of measures in place to help any child that may be bullied by providing various support networks, including support from peers and teachers; welcomes what it sees as a safe and nurturing environment, and wishes all the staff and pupils all the best for the future.
