  • Submitted by: Edward Mountain, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 28 October 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06500

That the Parliament commends Ian Morris, the optometrist director at Specsavers Wick, for being honoured by the founders of Specsavers by receiving a Doug Perkins award for his service to optometry, in particular, how he supports remote communities in the area; notes that Ian is one of 14 staff from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to receive a Doug and Dame Mary medal for clinical excellence, and recognises what it sees as the importance of his relationship with the local ophthalmology department in Inverness, where he often reviews customers in the community for the ophthalmology department to help prevent the long commute to hospital.
