Scottish FA and Network Rail Partnership to Deliver Rail Safety Programme

  • Submitted by: Evelyn Tweed, Stirling, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 October 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06315

That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish FA and Network Rail partnership to raise awareness of rail safety across Scotland, mixing Scottish FA coaching with rail safety messaging from Network Rail and British Transport Police; understands that the initiative is in its fourth year and that 45,000 young people across Scotland have participated in these innovative sessions; further understands that this initiative runs in conjunction with Network Rail's ongoing electrification rollout, which, it believes, is necessary for the sustainability of Scotland’s railways, but brings hazardous live electricity to railway lines; notes that Stirling Albion Junior Academy is currently participating in this initiative with young people aged 11 learning about the dangers of the railway, and congratulates the Scottish FA, Network Rail, British Transport Police and football clubs across Scotland on the success of this initiative.
