Moray Council Catering Team Recognised with Food for Life Served Here Award

  • Submitted by: Karen Adam, Banffshire and Buchan Coast, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 10 February 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03117

That the Parliament congratulates Moray Council's catering team, which has recently been recognised with a Food for Life Served Here award; understands that the award is in recognition of the team's work in preparing and serving fresh, local, and sustainable food for 45 primary school kitchens in the local authority area; further understands that more than 16,000 meals are served weekly and are free from undesirable fats, sweeteners, additives, and genetically modified ingredients; commends the team's use of locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible; recognises that the Food for Life Scotland programme is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by Soil Association Scotland, and understands that it aims to promote healthy eating and to give young people healthy meals that keep their bellies full so that they can fully concentrate on learning at school, which, it believes, is further tackling the attainment gap; commends Moray Council's catering team on its award, and wishes the team the very best for the future.
