  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02818

That the Parliament commends Asda’s Bringing Communities Back Together project, which is taking place in Asda Motherwell and Asda Newmains; understands that, in 2022, the Asda Foundation launched a new grant to reunite communities, celebrate togetherness and support groups as COVID-19 restrictions began to ease; notes that through the Bringing Communities Back Together fund, grants of between £250 and £1,000 were available to support local good causes, to either get activities back on track, or hold a get-together celebration; appreciates that with the support of Asda Motherwell’s Community Champion, Orbiston Older People's Service was awarded £500 and Veterans Community (Lanarkshire) SCIO was awarded £450; notes that Asda Newmains awarded £1,000 to Newmains and District Gala Day and £675 to Go Kids Scotland, and acknowledges that, in 2021, the Asda Foundation invested more than £700,000 in community projects and good causes in Scotland, which, it considers, have made a real difference to the wider community.
