Rod Stewart Teams Up With Glasgow Perthshire FC

  • Submitted by: Bob Doris, Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 08 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02415

That the Parliament welcomes the backing that musician, Rod Stewart, is reportedly providing to Glasgow Perthshire FC, which is affectionately known as ‘The Shire’; understands that the singer recently signed The Shire’s football shirts in order to help fundraising efforts at the club; highlights the new community initiative by Glasgow Perthshire FC, which aims to allow their fans entrance to all their league games free of charge; notes that Glasgow Perthshire FC, which was formed in 1890, is named after the Glasgow Perthshire Society, which, it understands, was formed originally to provide assistance to people who had moved to Glasgow from Perthshire seeking employment and had fallen on hard times; further notes that Glasgow Perthshire FC plays its home games at Keppoch Park, which is in the Possilpark area of Glasgow, and competes in the West of Scotland Football League; understands that Manager, Billy Adams, is the longest serving manager in junior football, with 30 years at the helm; appreciates the reported backing of grassroots football by Rod Stewart, and wishes everyone at the club, including the many committed club volunteers, the very best going forward.
