  • Motion reference: S6M-01965

That the Parliament congratulates the Fiona Henderson School of Dance, based in the Scottish Borders, on being announced as the overall winner of this year's Dance School of the Year award, which it is understood was open to schools throughout the UK and internationally; further understands that this builds on the School’s previous success at these awards, having been a finalist in 2017, a 2018 Gold winner in the category of schools with 200 and more pupils, winning Silver in 2019 in the category with 300 and more pupils, and receiving the Innovation in Teaching of Dance award in 2020; notes that the School was established in 1985 and now has over 350 pupils ranging from 13 months old up to adult, and the school runs over 100 classes a week in a wide range of dance styles in Biggar, Galashiels, Jedburgh, Melrose, Moffat, Peebles, Hawick and Selkirk; recognises that recent times have been challenging for dance schools due to COVID-19 restrictions through the pandemic and is glad to see the Fiona Henderson School of Dance maintaining its excellent reputation in the Scottish Borders and beyond.
