Seconding the Glasgow City Council Motion

  • Submitted by: James Dornan, Glasgow Cathcart, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 November 2021
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-01904

That the Parliament commends Glasgow City Council for passing a motion condemning anti-Irish racism and showing solidarity and support for Irish people in Scotland; notes that the motion also recognises the two memorial sites in Glasgow dedicated to those who were forced to emigrate or lost their life during the Great Hunger (An Gorta Mór); understands that the intent of the motion was to call upon the Scottish Government and Police Scotland to work with Glasgow City Council and the people of Glasgow, including constituents in Glasgow Cathcart, to tackle what it sees as this deep-seated issue that remains in society, and wishes to second the sentiment of the Glasgow City Council motion.
