  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01901

That the Parliament congratulates Lesley Reid, Sandra Smith, and Lorraine Duncan, from Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health, for achieving a National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) award; notes that the NIDMAR awards are part of what is regarded as a ground-breaking NHS-funded scheme to train up to 300 individuals to become Certified Disability Management Professionals (CDMPs); understands that more than 80% of mental and physical health impairments occur during people’s working lives, and that the CDMPs will serve a range of public and private sector groups in Scotland, dedicated to maintaining meaningful employment for workers with long-term health conditions, injuries or disabilities; considers that Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health provides excellent services to residents in Lanarkshire and West Lothian, and commends Lesley, Sandra, Lorraine and all the staff and volunteers, for working in partnership to deliver quality mental health services and resources that promote people's independence and inclusion.
