Kidical Mass

  • Submitted by: Ariane Burgess, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 08 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01609

That the Parliament congratulates participants and organisers of the Kidical Mass event in Inverness on 2 October 2021; understands that this was part of a worldwide event to advocate safe spaces for active travel, especially for young people; commends the 239 "wheelers" who took part in the event, as well as the marshals who kept people safe; notes that Velocity Café, Bicycle Workshop and 42 Cycling helped to organise the event; understands that this event was thought to be the first of its kind in Scotland, and believes that allowing people to participate in active travel safely, rather than choosing to travel by car, is a vital part of meeting Scotland’s climate targets.
