West Lothian Schools Raise Money for Charities Through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

That the Parliament recognises the charitable work by seven high schools in West Lothian, which collectively raised £21,000 for charities in the area; notes the hard work put in by pupils through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), who signed up to the Wood Foundation programme, committing to work to identify social issues impacting on their communities and the charities addressing them; further notes that the top social issues identified by the young people included mental health and wellbeing, health and disability and poverty-related issues, and congratulates Bathgate Academy, which supported Generation Arts, Broxburn Academy, which supported Riverkids, Linlithgow Academy, which supported SAMH, Whitburn Academy, which supported West Lothian Food Train, Pinewood School which supported Carers of West Lothian, St Margaret’s Academy, which supported Neil’s Hugs and West Calder High School, which supported Hearts and Minds.
