  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 02 March 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24265

That the Parliament commends Mears Scotland on its recent Order of Distinction Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in recognition of its commitment to health and safety in North Lanarkshire; understands that, throughout the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mears Scotland’s 500 North Lanarkshire-based employees have consistently worked hard to provide maintenance and repair services to 36,700 families across the area; notes that Mears, alongside North Lanarkshire Council, ensured a safe supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all staff to protect employees and the people they serve in the community from the outset of the pandemic, while providing residents with up-to-the-minute information on essential works, and highlights that through the maintenance of the Council’s tenanted properties and public buildings, Mears Scotland teams have contributed to the continued functioning of North Lanarkshire’s communities as best as they can during this period of uncertainty.
