That the Parliament welcomes Carer Aware at University, which is an innovative online module developed by Carers Trust Scotland, in partnership with The Open University in Scotland, and funded by the Scottish Funding Council; appreciates that the module will help university professionals to reflect on the challenges students with unpaid caring responsibilities face, the impact on their education, and the important role university staff can have in supporting them; notes that student carers are not always recognised by education professionals as undertaking a caring role; understands that student carers can greatly benefit from dedicated support provision from their university, and believes that appropriate training to universities should be endorsed to ensure that student carers are better supported and have a fair chance to be successful in their own education and achieve their true potential in all aspects of their lives.
