In Memory of Sydney Devine

That the Parliament notes with sadness the death of the veteran entertainer, Sydney Devine; notes that Mr Devine, who was born in Cleland, Lanarkshire, in 1940, sold over 15 million albums during a career spanning over seven decades; understands that, at the height of his career, Mr Devine supported musicians such as Roy Orbison and worked with the country legends, Charlie Pride and Dolly Parton; notes that Mr Devine was appointed an MBE for his services to music and was also honoured by the Scottish Music Hall Society with a lifetime achievement award; recognises his significant fundraising efforts for the Marie Curie Foundation, and sends its condolences to Mr Devine’s family and friends.
