Irvine’s Polar Plunge

  • Submitted by: Ruth Maguire, Cunninghame South, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 14 January 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-20433

That the Parliament congratulates all who took part in Irvine’s Polar Plunge on New Year's Day; understands that more than 250 hardy souls braved the icy waters at Irvine beach; notes that the event was organised by Coastwatch Scotland with money being raised by entrants for various charities; further notes that the event was supported by local businesses and groups, including Ardrossan Coastguard, The Roll Shop, which provided hot soup, and Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band; thanks all the Coastwatch volunteers for making the event a success, and wishes them future success with the Polar Plunge.
