RBS Planned Closure in Renfrew

  • Submitted by: Ross Greer, West Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 December 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-09356

That the Parliament notes with concern the decision of RBS to close its branch in Renfrew as part of a programme of planned closures across the country; understands that losing the branch will leave customers having to travel a further three miles to Paisley for their next nearest branch; believes that bank branches are a vital part of the fabric of the community of areas such as Renfrew, especially for people with limited mobility or no internet access, and that it is important they are protected; asks the bank to reconsider the decision to close this and the other branches, and expresses its solidarity with those whose jobs are under threat because of these plans.
