RBS Stepps

  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 December 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-09354

That the Parliament notes with concern the plan of RBS to close 62 of its branches across Scotland, shares concerns that many of these closures will be in rural and village communities, considers that the Stepps branch, which is in the Coatbridge and Chryston constituency, is integral to the village community and a lifeline to many older, vulnerable, disabled and those with no internet access who use the service on a daily or weekly basis; believes that in such communities there remains a place for a face-to-face banking service; shares its concerns at the prospective loss of jobs for those employed both at the Stepps branch and the others facing closure, and requests that RBS reconsiders this decision.
