  • Submitted by: Alison Johnstone, Lothian, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 06 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07508

That the Parliament celebrates the success of Celine Sinclair, who picked up the Leading Light award at the SCVO Charity Awards 2017 for her work with The Yard providing adventure play experiences for disabled children and young people, alongside sibling and whole-family support, in the east of Scotland; believes that this award is a timely recognition, coming in The Yard’s 30th anniversary year and marking Celine's 10 years as chief executive; notes that she is considered by colleagues and many people across the east of Scotland to be a committed advocate for disabled children, leading and inspiring The Yard team with passion and dedication; understands that she is well known in the third sector as an expert in play and disability, and has been instrumental in supporting families, staff and volunteers to feel at home, replicating The Yard’s unique culture and atmosphere from Edinburgh into Dundee and Fife; believes that this award will help to boost the profile of The Yard and allow it to reach more people with the services on offer, and supports Celine's vision for the greatest possible access to safe and adventurous play opportunities to be available for Scotland’s disabled children.
