  • Submitted by: Liam Kerr, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 August 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07346

That the Parliament congratulates the Tayside Clinical Trials Unit (TCTU), which is a joint enterprise between the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside, on being awarded gold (full recognition) by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration authority; understands that to receive such a grade the TCTU had to prove to an international panel of judges that it was capable of hosting a number of clinical trials at the same time, all carried out to the highest research standards; notes that the TCTU was established in Dundee in 2008 and has carried out a number of research trials, which have helped cement the city as one of the world’s leading areas of research against diseases such as cancer and diabetes; acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the co-director, Dr Fiona Hogarth, and the rest of her team in winning the award, and wishes everyone involved the very best for the future.
