Angus Independent Advocacy

  • Submitted by: Liam Kerr, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 20 June 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-06233

That the Parliament congratulates Angus Independent Advocacy on its recent £301,296 Big Lottery Fund grant; believes that the citizen advocacy that it offers is a powerful tool that empowers people to support members of their community in a preventative and natural way; notes that it works with older people and people over 26 who are at risk of being unable to safeguard their rights because of ill health, learning disabilities, dementia or acquired brain injury; understands that it supports service users in accessing information and provides options so they can make informed decisions; notes that lottery support has helped the development of its work across Angus since 2012 and that the latest funding will be used to continue and develop its work to help identify isolated and vulnerable people who could benefit from it, and commends all of its staff, volunteers and citizen advocates on their dedicated work.
