Celebrating 40 Years of BBC Radio Shetland

That the Parliament congratulates BBC Radio Shetland on celebrating its 40th anniversary; notes that the station made its first broadcast in May 1977; acknowledges the particular contributions of Jonathan Wills and Suzanne Gibbs, the station’s first presenters, as well as Jonathan Sutherland and Phil Goodland, who went on to find further success with BBC Scotland; commends the impact that presenters, including Mary Blance, have had on the preservation of the local dialect; believes that BBC Radio Shetland continues to play an invaluable role in island life, and recognises the ongoing efforts of the current team, led by John Johnston, to ensure its success in the future.
