That the Parliament congratulates Amy Curran, Annie Bowes, Hana Mackenzie, Hannah Cumming and Katee McCulloch on their recent success in being selected for the Scottish Youth Theatre’s first ever National Ensemble; notes that the five performers secured a place out of over 130 young adults across Scotland who auditioned; understands that, following the Scottish Youth Theatre celebrating its 40th anniversary in December 2016, the company opened registrations for the National Ensemble; acknowledges that 16 to 25-year-olds who live or study in Scotland were invited to audition; further understands that the ensemble members all have previous theatrical experience ranging from performances in school plays to theatre degrees; appreciates that, as part of the National Ensemble, they will take part in eight workshops over several weekends and spend five weeks during the summer rehearsing for a performance that will take place in August 2017; acknowledges that ensemble members will work with some of theatre’s most respected writers, directors and designers; wishes the National Ensemble members all the best for their time with the Scottish Youth Theatre, and encourages them to “break a leg”.
