That the Parliament calls on Glasgow City Council and its arms-length external partner, Cordia, to urgently resolve the long-running dispute with janitors employed by Cordia across the city; understands that the “jannies” are Unison members who have been in dispute since 19 January 2016, following the withdrawal of working context and demand payments to which they had been entitled for carrying out extra janitorial duties, such as weeding, litter picking, snow clearing, salt spreading, leaf clearing, heavy lifting, spillage clearing and animal clearing; believes that this amounts to a reduction in pay of between £500 and £1,000 per annum for the jannies; understands that the council is now undertaking a review of janitorial services across the city with the impact on jobs, wages and conditions unknown; urges the council to give a clear timescale for the completion of this review, and further calls on the council and Cordia to resume meaningful negotiations with Unison to ensure that justice can be achieved for the jannies before winter ensues so that they can resume these essential duties with what it considers fair remuneration.
