That the Parliament welcomes the findings of the survey conducted by Platform, endorsed by Uplift, Oil Change International, Friends of the Earth Scotland, and Global Justice Now, which gathered the views of 415 oil and gas workers between March and May 2025; notes with concern that nearly three-quarters of workers who responded are considering or actively seeking to leave the oil and gas industry due to job insecurity, declining working conditions, and the threat of redundancy; recognises that 83% of respondents believe that the Scottish Government must do more to support them in finding alternative employment and transitioning into renewable energy sectors; highlights the key demands reported by workers, including increased investment in skills and retraining, expansion of community and publicly owned renewable energy projects, and scaling up Scottish National Investment Bank funding for manufacturing, infrastructure, and ports; acknowledges what it considers to be the overwhelming call for governments to create good, unionised jobs in renewable industries, ensure that profits from the energy transition benefit workers and communities, and mandate oil and gas companies to provide pathways into other sectors; recognises the urgent calls from respondents for the Scottish Government to bring forward a clear, long-term plan to support workers and communities in the transition to renewable energy, ensuring that no worker is left behind, and considers that collaborative working with all stakeholders to deliver a just transition is in the best interests of workers and communities.
