That the Parliament congratulates Humane World for Animals UK on the success of its Crate Britain Tour, which has raised awareness of the welfare of breeding sows and the continued use of farrowing crates; recognises the concerns raised about the impact of farrowing crates on pig welfare and the restriction of their natural behaviours; commends Humane World for Animals UK for its ongoing efforts to engage with the Scottish public, 84% of whom it understands support an end to crate use; notes its call for a pathway to crate-free farming in Scotland, incorporating policy clarity and financial support for farmers to transition away from cages for pigs, and encourages the Scottish Government to continue working with farmers, animal welfare organisations and researchers to develop practical, sustainable and cage-free farming methods.
