  • Motion reference: S6M-19230

That the Parliament congratulates Wallace Hall Academy in Thornhill on piloting Scotland’s first Higher course in agriculture, the Young Agri Leader programme; recognises that the course builds on the existing Rural Skills National 5 qualification and offers pupils both practical and classroom-based experience, including business planning, rural affairs and hands-on agricultural learning; welcomes the commitment of teachers, Neil Miller and Aileen Marchant, in designing the course, which it understands is already inspiring pupils to remain in education and pursue rural careers; believes that initiatives like this will help nurture the next generation of agricultural leaders in Scotland, and encourages other schools to consider starting a similar programme.
