  • Motion reference: S6M-19006

That the Parliament recognises the dedicated service of Rev John Vischer, who has faithfully ministered to the congregation of Haddington West Church for over a decade; notes that Rev Vischer led his final service on 21 September 2025 ahead of the church’s union with St Mary’s Parish Church to form the new Haddington Parish Church; acknowledges his deep pastoral commitment since arriving in East Lothian in 2011, and the strong relationships he has built within the community; celebrates the legacy of Haddington West Church, which first opened in 1890, and its role in local spiritual life; wishes Rev Vischer well as he returns to Switzerland to begin a new chapter, and commends the congregations of both churches as they embark on a new journey together, united in faith and hope for the future.
