That the Parliament congratulates internationally acclaimed artist, author and broadcaster, Dr Edward H Chisnall, on the unveiling of his limited edition artwork, Ghlaschu 850, to mark the 850th anniversary of the city of Glasgow; recognises that this A2 fine art print, which is limited to just 500 hand-signed copies, is a vibrant and celebratory tribute to Glasgow’s rich history, diverse culture and enduring spirit, capturing landmarks, iconic characters and notable innovations that have shaped the city over the centuries; understands that all proceeds from the sale of the posters will be donated to the Lord Provost’s Charity Fund, supporting charitable causes and community initiatives across the city as well as leaving a lasting legacy from this commemorative work; acknowledges Dr Chisnall’s lifelong dedication to chronicling and celebrating Glasgow’s stories through his art, radio broadcasts and print media, including his much-loved Evening Times column, The Glasgow Story, and his celebrated book, Bell in the Tree: The Glasgow Story; recognises the impact of his work in fostering civic pride and preserving local heritage, and notes that Ghlaschu 850 is part of the wider Glasgow 850 programme, which has involved exhibitions, performances, community projects and volunteering opportunities throughout 2025 to celebrate the city’s journey from its medieval origins to its modern-day innovation and diversity.
