  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 13 August 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18516

That the Parliament acknowledges the passing of Grangemouth’s John Anderson on 23 July 2025 at 76 years old; understands that John undertook important work for major industries in the Falkirk area, in his work as a technician, contracted to work for BP then INEOS for over two decades; believes that John’s ability with technical and mechanical skills led to him becoming an invaluable member of the International Rescue Corps (IRC), which was formed in 1981, with the IRC becoming operational in 1985; notes that from 1985, the IRC had undertaken missions both in the UK and internationally, working alongside various agencies at the sites of international devastation and crisis, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and floods; commends John for his work locally and internationally via the International Rescue Corps, and extends its sympathies to his family, friends and all those within the wider community who mourn his loss.
