That the Parliament celebrates the reopening of the Fair Isle Bird Observatory, in Fair Isle, Shetland, six years after a fire totally destroyed the original wooden building; understands that the internationally renowned bird observatory burned down in March 2019 and that it has been rebuilt with assistance from donations from bird watchers around the world and grants from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Scottish and UK governments and Shetland Islands Council; further understands that the rebuild has faced challenges, including the logistics of shipping pre-fabricated modules to Fair Isle; believes that the successful rebuilding is a testament to the dedication of the observatory team and congratulates all at the charity on this milestone; recognises the importance of the observatory for Fair Isle’s economy and community; notes that Fair Isle is considered one of the best places in Europe to see migrating birds; further notes that the observatory attracts hundreds of visitors to stay in the guest house every year, with visitors having the opportunity to learn about wildlife, see wardens ringing the birds, and look out for rare birds passing through during migration, and wishes all at the Fair Isle Bird Observatory a successful summer season.
