That the Parliament congratulates Shetland Youth Voice on its success in having been named winner in the Participation and Youth Voice category at the National Youth Work Awards 2025, hosted by YouthLink Scotland, the national agency for youth work; recognises that the group was re-established in 2024 and enables young people aged 12 to 25 across the isles to lead change in their communities, with a leadership team, an executive of 17, and 54 members representing schools and voluntary groups; understands that, within just a few short months, it has made a significant impact, hosting a youth-led Transport and Connectivity Summit aboard the MV Hjaltland, influencing Shetland Islands Council’s Corporate Plan, and forming partnerships with stakeholders including Transport Scotland, NorthLink Ferries and Ocean Kinetics; considers that this approach is reshaping how young people engage with decision-makers to be on equal terms, from advocating for better transport and youth spaces to planning its next summit on employment; celebrates that Shetland Youth Voice is proving what can be achieved when young people are trusted to lead, and wishes it well in its future endeavours.
