  • Motion reference: S6M-18372

That the Parliament applauds Aberdeen City Council, the Port of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Inspired and all of the organisers of the successful Tall Ships Race events in the Granite City, which attracted over 400,000 visitors to the harbour alone; commends the army of volunteers for their efforts, including those from We Too!, PAMIS and AbleDeen, who made the events as accessible as possible; thanks the crews from the near 50 tall ships for sharing their joy, enthusiasm and knowledge with the folk of the Silver City by the sea; pays tribute to Sail Training International for bringing the Tall Ships to the city, for allowing young people from Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire to take part in the races and for fostering understanding across nations and cultures through providing sail training to young people around the world, inspiring them to live a fulfilling life; congratulates the people, community organisations and businesses of Aberdeen for, it believes, enthusiastically embracing the events and for welcoming visitors to the city, and hopes that the cries of "haste ye back" will be heard and that the Tall Ships will return to Aberdeen in the very near future.
