  • Motion reference: S6M-18232

That the Parliament pays tribute to Joann Beattie, from Johnshaven, Aberdeenshire, who sadly passed away aged 79 on 20 May 2025; acknowledges the outstanding contribution that Joann made to her local community, not only as an active member of the Benholm and Johnshaven Community Council, but also as a core member of the Johnshaven Heritage Society, a volunteer at the village museum and a regular visitor to the weekly community café; understands that Joann was born in the village of Johnshaven and, after a brief time living in Fife, she returned to raise her family with her late husband, Douglas; notes that Joann worked for some time as a civil servant, and in her spare time was extremely passionate about genealogy and the history of Johnshaven and its residents; recognises that Joann wrote and published a book on the history of Johnshaven to raise extra funds for the village museum; understands that Joann was a local stalwart and much-loved member of the Johnshaven community, which has been reflected by the many warm tributes that have been shared by those who knew her, and passes on its sincere condolences to Joann’s sons, grandchildren, former colleagues and friends on her sad passing.
