Congratulations to St Roch’s Marching Band on its Selection to Perform at the GAA Football Championship Semi-final at Croke Park in Dublin

  • Submitted by: Paul Sweeney, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18217

That the Parliament congratulates St Roch’s marching band on its selection to perform at half-time during the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) football championship semi-final at Croke Park in Dublin on 13 July 2025; believes that this is a great achievement, further highlighting the strong bonds and shared heritage between Scotland and Ireland; further believes that the band’s performance during the match between Donegal and Meath will be all the more meaningful given the Glasgow band’s close personal and cultural ties to County Donegal; understands that St Roch’s marching band has had a successful year with its victory at the coveted Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford in 2024, it leading Glasgow's first St Patrick's Day parade in 2025, and it playing its own concert at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, and wishes the band well for its performance.
