Future of Dufftown Clock Tower Secured

  • Submitted by: Tim Eagle, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18196

That the Parliament congratulates the Dufftown and District Community Association (DDCA) on its success in achieving planning permission to upgrade the Dufftown Clock Tower; understands that the plans for the tower include community space on the ground floor, a short-term one bedroom let across the other floors, and general repairs to the building; recognises that the tower is an iconic and historic building set in the centre of Dufftown and is much loved by the local community, and believes that this initiative, which began with a community asset transfer from Moray Council, represents a further excellent example of how historic buildings are being brought back to use and protected for the future right across Moray and the wider Highlands and Islands region.
