That the Parliament notes the recent reports of weather warnings and record extreme heat temperatures, including 28.4°C in Aboyne in Aberdeenshire; understands that typical June temperatures for Scotland average 17°C; notes the reported warning from SEPA of increased river stress and below-average rainfall throughout spring and summer 2025; understands that there is no UK law for a maximum working temperature to protect workers, including those in heavy industry; further understands that the Labour Party’s New Deal for Working People commits to modernising health and safety guidance with reference to extreme temperatures, and calls on the Scottish Government to work constructively with the UK Government, businesses, workers and trade unions to implement the Trade Union Congress’s (TUC) recommendation for an absolute maximum indoor working temperature as a matter of worker health and safety.
