  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 25 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18091

That the Parliament congratulates Lanarkshire Carers on marking 30 years of dedicated service, providing advice, information and support to unpaid carers across Lanarkshire; understands that the organisation began in 1995, when a small group of carers met in a community hall with the shared ambition of improving the lives of people who care for others; recognises the substantial growth of the organisation, now supporting over 16,000 carers, and commends what it sees as its unwavering commitment to ensuring carers are informed, empowered and valued; believes that carers play an essential role across Scotland and that they should have access to the support and recognition that they deserve; welcomes the introduction of the Carer’s Support Payment, Carer’s Allowance Supplement and Young Carers Grant in Scotland, reflecting, it believes, the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting unpaid carers, and expresses gratitude to all those involved in Lanarkshire Carers for three decades of service and advocacy on behalf of Scotland’s caring community.
