Tanz Tanning Team Completes Pink Ribbon Walk in Memory of Ashleigh Craig

  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 17 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17984

That the Parliament commends the team from Tanz Tanning for taking part in the 10-mile Pink Ribbon Walk in support of Breast Cancer Now, raising funds to help the charity continue its world-class research and life-changing care for people affected by breast cancer; notes that the walk was completed in memory of Ashleigh Craig, the much-loved salon manager of Tanz in Newmains, who sadly passed away earlier in 2025 following a diagnosis of breast cancer; recognises the dedication and solidarity shown by the team in honouring Ashleigh’s memory and supporting others affected by the disease; understands that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Scotland, with around 4,700 women diagnosed each year and one in seven women developing breast cancer in their lifetime; further understands that advances in research and early detection have significantly improved survival rates, with around 87% of women in Scotland now surviving breast cancer for five years or more, and thanks Breast Cancer Now, its supporters, and the wider community for their continued efforts to ensure that everyone with breast cancer receives the support they need and that no one faces it alone.
