That the Parliament congratulates all those who took part in the Glasgow Race for Life and Pretty Muddy event, held at Strathclyde Country Park on 14 June 2025 in support of Cancer Research UK and sponsored by Scottish Power; recognises that over 3,000 participants of all ages and backgrounds took part in the event, raising in excess of £340,000 for life-saving cancer research; acknowledges what it considers to be the vital work of Cancer Research UK, which supports ground-breaking scientific studies and clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for cancer patients across Scotland and the UK; understands that, in Scotland, around 34,100 people are diagnosed with cancer each year, and that around one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives; further understands that, thanks to research and advances in treatment, cancer survival in Scotland has doubled in the last 40 years, with more than half of people now surviving cancer for 10 years or more, and commends the organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and all who participated for their inspiring commitment to raising awareness and funding to help those affected by cancer.
