That the Parliament congratulates the Hydrogen Fuel Racing (HFR) Team at the University of Glasgow on its central role in developing the Vital Spark Hydrogen Hydrofoil Project, which is set to represent Team Scotland at the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge in July 2025; understands that the Vital Spark is a groundbreaking hydrogen-powered vessel developed by PlusZero in collaboration with Forth Ports, and a range of academic, commercial, and engineering partners, showcasing pioneering sustainable propulsion technologies including solid-state hydrogen storage and advanced marine battery systems; further understands that the HFR Team, comprising student engineers from Glasgow, has made a significant contribution to the design and development of this world-first prototype, and has worked closely with fellow Scottish universities, including Heriot-Watt University, to promote what it sees as Scotland’s strengths in clean-tech innovation; recognises the team’s recent demonstration of the Vital Spark at the All-Energy Conference in Glasgow, and believes that this project exemplifies the potential of Scotland’s students, universities, and engineering sector to lead in climate innovation and clean transport; congratulates all those involved, and wishes the team well in Monaco and in their continued work to advance Scotland’s role in the global transition to net zero.
