That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Perth Golfing Society on being honoured by Perth and Kinross Council at a recent civic reception; notes that this was to mark the society’s 200th anniversary, which took place in 2024; further notes that the society is the world’s oldest Royal golf club, having been established in 1824 and receiving royal patronage from King William IV in 1833; acknowledges that club captain, Robin Duncan, presented a framed Graeme Baxter print, and Peter Baxter’s 1899 book on golfing in Perthshire, to Provost Xander McDade at the civic reception; believes that golf clubs make a significant economic contribution to local economies across Scotland, and wishes the Royal Perth Golfing Society every success in the years to come.
