That the Parliament congratulates the eight schools in the Highlands and Islands region that were recently awarded the sportscotland Gold School Sport Award, namely Bridgend Primary School in Alness, Halkirk Primary School in Halkirk, Reay Primary School in Reay, Millburn Academy in Inverness, St Sylvesters Primary School in Elgin, West End Primary School in Elgin, Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh in Portree and Farr Primary School in Farr; acknowledges that the award encourages schools to put young people at the heart of decision-making, planning and implementation of extra-curricular school sport; notes that it also encourages schools to self-reflect and continuously improve, while also encouraging sporting links between schools and the communities; commends the fact that each school has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to increasing young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership, while providing clear pathways to lifelong participation in sport, and recognises the commitment of staff and pupils alike in fostering a positive and inclusive sporting culture in the Highlands and Islands.
