  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 29 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17319

That the Parliament congratulates the Glasgow-based digital inclusion charity, Plugged In, on being awarded a year of free broadband by Uswitch; notes that Plugged In is an IT recycling project run by the North West Glasgow Voluntary Sector Network, operating from The Pyramid in Anderston, where it refurbishes donated devices such as phones, laptops, tablets, and computers for individuals in need across the local community; understands that Plugged In works with local charities on a referral basis and provides all its services free of charge through the efforts of a small part-time team; commends the project for having provided over 2,000 refurbished devices in the last five years and for diverting 18 tonnes of technology from landfill; recognises that the donation of broadband by Uswitch will enable Plugged In to further reduce its operating costs and extend its mission of ensuring digital access for all, and thanks both Plugged In and Uswitch for their contribution to promoting digital equity, community resilience, and environmental sustainability in Glasgow.
