That the Parliament congratulates the Wigtownshire Ladies team on it winning the prestigious Women’s Shield on the main pitch at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on so-called Silver Saturday; recognises that the team defeated Greenock Wanderers 37-17 in a thrilling final match, thanks to tries by Laura McNeil, Isla Campbell, Niamh Wilson, Amy McNeil and Carla Campbell, plus conversions and a penalty by Sophie Mann, to lift the trophy; notes that Neve Finlay was voted Player of the Match; acknowledges the dedication of the team members and coaching staff, led by Gordon Scobie, in promoting women’s rugby in the south west corner of Scotland, and wishes the ladies continued success in the coming season as they look to win more silverware.
